Getting set up
- Sign in, or create an account with your name, email and a password. Scribe emails a 6-digit code to confirm the address.
- Open Settings (the slider icon) and paste an OpenRouter API key. Tap Test connection to be sure.
- Tap + to attach from Photos, or hold it for Files or Paste. Then send.
Questions
Send says I need a key.
Scribe calls OpenRouter with your own key. Until one is saved, a banner sits above the composer and Send says so rather than failing quietly. Paste a key in Settings; it is stored in the keychain.
Some files failed.
Files that fail on a transient error get one automatic second pass. If some still fail, tap Retry on the batch. If you keep hitting rate limits, lower Files read at once in Settings.
Can I use the phone while a batch runs?
Yes. On iOS 26 a batch runs as a continued-processing task, with progress in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen, and a notification when it is done. If a batch is interrupted by a crash, it resumes the next time Scribe opens.
How many files can I attach?
Up to 500 at once: screenshots, photos, videos, call recordings, voice notes and PDFs, mixed. Large videos are made smaller on import; anything still over 20MB when it is sent is refused with a message.
Does asking a follow-up question re-upload my files?
No. Answers come from the saved transcripts, so nothing is re-uploaded and nothing is paid for twice.
Where is the English translation?
Every line is kept in its original language with an English translation beside it. You can hide the English; the verbatim original never changes.
How do I find something from an old batch?
Use search on the thread list. It looks through every transcript on the phone and opens the exact file.
How do I get my transcripts out?
Share a thread as Markdown from the thread menu, or copy a single transcript or its raw JSON from the file.
I got a "Was this you?" prompt.
Scribe asks when your account sees a sign-in from a new kind of device, a password change made elsewhere, or several failed attempts in a day. Answering No signs every other device out and takes you to set a new password.
I forgot my password.
Use Forgot password on the sign-in screen. Scribe emails a code, and entering it with a new password signs you in. Changing the password signs your other devices out.
